Rule 32
Basis of Promotion

(1) In order to be promoted to any post in the Nepali Army, the following criteria must be fulfilled:-
(a) Completed the training as per schedule-6,
(A1) Schedule-6A for military officers. Having the following educational qualifications,
(b) Qualified in performance appraisal,
(c) Completion of minimum period of service,
(d) Qualified in health classification (medical category).
(1a) The provisions of Clause (A1) of sub-rule (1) shall apply only after three years from the date of commencement of the sub-rule for the promotion from sub-senior to general rank.
(1B) Clause (1) of sub-rule: Notwithstanding anything contained in (a) and (a1), by promotion in accordance with clause (d) of sub-rule (1) of rule 5, an officer who is an assistant soldier shall be promoted to the rank of sub-soldier or above, at least through officer orientation training and entrance examination. or equivalent or must have passed army first class.
(2) While promoting on the basis of sub-rule (1), priority shall be given to seniority, qualification and efficiency.
(3) Before holding the meeting of the promotion committee, details related to qualifications as per sub-rule (1) shall be provided to the promotion committee by the military secretary department in the case of officers and by the relevant office in the case of others.
